How I Can Help

How I can help

Areas that therapy can help with

People rarely arrive in therapy with one difficulty that fits neatly into a single category. Anxiety, low mood, sleep, confidence, relationships, health and difficult experiences can all affect one another.

We can begin with what is happening for you now and work together to understand what may be keeping it going. Therapy will be shaped around you, your circumstances and what you would like to change.

Lowering Anxiety & Coping With Stress

Panic, anxiety and constant worry can have a debilitating impact on your life. Similarly, ongoing stress can be mentally exhausting and physically damaging.

It can get in the way of enjoying life or being successful in the way you know you could. I have helped hundreds of people stop the negative spiral and feel calm once more. They discover the skills they need to cope with daily life and take on challenging situations, allowing them to move forward with confidence.

Lifting Low Mood & Depression

Psychotherapy can be effective at lifting depression gently, yet effectively, and sometimes surprisingly quickly.

As your energy, mood and motivation improve, psychotherapy can help you identify and implement changes in your life, so that you can move into the future with greater confidence and a renewed sense of control.

Reducing Fear & Phobias

Fear and phobias can feel irrational and out of proportion, leaving us feeling as though we have little control. Loved ones may also find it difficult to understand why we cannot simply “get over it”.

Solution-focused work, hypnosis and the rewind technique can offer gentle but effective routes back to calmness and confidence.

I can help you understand these emotional and physical responses and begin taking back control. We can work to calm the fight-or-flight response so that it operates at a more appropriate level.

Learning Mindfulness & Long-Term Strategies

My aim is for the people I work with to develop tools that help them continue improving beyond our work together, alongside the confidence that they can cope with what life brings.

What works for you may be different from what works for someone else, so we work together to find tools and strategies that suit you.

You may already be interested in mindfulness as a way of supporting your mental health. Mindfulness is best understood as an approach to living rather than a therapy in itself. I am a trained mindfulness teacher and can incorporate relevant techniques when they would be helpful to you.

Improving Relationships

Relationships are an important part of a happy and fulfilling life, and when they are not going well we can be deeply affected.

I can help you address social anxiety, develop the skills needed to establish friendships, communicate more confidently or find ways to improve important relationships in your life.

Recovering From Trauma

Events in life can rock our sense of security in places, situations or other people. In prolonged or extreme circumstances, the fight-or-flight response can remain active.

Techniques that allow your nervous system to process these experiences can reduce the ongoing emotional response in everyday life, helping you regain a sense of control.

Getting a Good Night’s Sleep

Sleep is critical to how we cope with the day and is often disrupted when we need it most.

There is a range of tools I use to help you wake feeling better rested and more emotionally ready for the day ahead. It does not matter how long you have experienced a sleep problem; it is not too late to enjoy sleeping well once more.

Building Confidence & Self-Esteem

Low confidence and poor self-esteem often accompany other difficulties. They can prevent us from moving forward and making the most of life.

Confidence can feel magical when we have it and unobtainable when we do not. However, it is possible to develop confidence, regardless of what has happened in the past or what you are facing now.

I can help you strengthen your confidence, make decisions that are right for you and understand how to maintain those changes in the future.

Living With Physical Illness, Pain or Fatigue

Physical illness, persistent symptoms, pain and fatigue can affect far more than the body. They may influence confidence, identity, relationships, work and your sense of what the future holds.

Therapy can provide space to process these changes, manage the emotional impact and find practical ways to live more fully within the realities of your health.

Changing Habits & Unhelpful Patterns

Our daily habits can play an important part in our wellbeing, while patterns that work against us may become emotionally or physically damaging.

You may want help creating and maintaining positive habits or moving away from behaviours that are no longer in your best interests. Changing through willpower alone can be difficult, and working alongside a therapist can make the process more manageable.

Therapy can help you make changes with greater confidence and develop strategies that support those changes into the future.

How I can help

Areas of specialist knowledge

Some difficulties benefit from a therapist who understands not only the symptoms, but the wider experience behind them. I offer informed, compassionate therapy across several specialist areas, adapting the work to each person rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Therapy centred around you

You do not need to fit neatly into one category

Many people experience a mixture of anxiety, neurodivergence, physical illness, relationship difficulties or challenging life experiences. Therapy will be shaped around you as a whole person, rather than focusing only on a label or diagnosis.

Ready to take the next step?

You do not need to know exactly which area your difficulties fit into. We can begin with what is happening for you and shape the therapy around what you need.
