Support for your relationship
Couples Therapy
Relationships can become strained for many different reasons. You may be having the same arguments repeatedly, feeling distant from one another, struggling to communicate or facing a change that has placed pressure on you both.
Couples therapy offers a calm and balanced space in which to slow things down, understand what is happening between you and find practical ways forward. The aim is not to decide who is right or assign blame, but to help each of you feel heard and better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
You do not need to wait until your relationship has reached breaking point. I work with couples who want to communicate more clearly, reconnect, repair trust or make thoughtful decisions about the future of their relationship.
I also support couples who are considering or navigating separation and want help communicating calmly, reducing conflict and managing difficult decisions more respectfully.
Sessions last 1 hour 20 minutes and are available in person in Ivybridge or online.
Both partners must attend the complimentary call.
A practical and balanced approach
How couples therapy can help
Every relationship is different, but couples often arrive feeling caught in familiar cycles. Therapy gives you space to notice these patterns, understand what is happening beneath them and begin responding to one another differently.
Communicate more clearly
Find ways to express what matters without conversations immediately becoming arguments, criticism or withdrawal.
Understand recurring patterns
Recognise the reactions and misunderstandings that keep repeating and explore what may be happening underneath them.
Rebuild trust and connection
Create greater understanding, strengthen emotional connection and begin repairing the effects of hurt or disconnection.
Support when separating
Create a respectful space for clearer communication, thoughtful decisions and reduced conflict when considering or navigating separation, particularly where children or shared responsibilities are involved.
Support shaped around your relationship
Areas I commonly help with
Sessions are adapted to the experiences, needs and communication styles of both partners. Some of the areas I commonly support couples with include:
Neurodiversity-informed relationships
Understanding how ADHD, autistic experiences and differences in communication, emotional processing or sensory needs may affect your relationship.
Affairs, betrayal and rebuilding trust
Support following a breach of trust, helping you understand what has happened, communicate more safely and consider what repair may look like.
Life changes and relationship pressures
Support during parenting changes, illness, work pressures, loss, blended-family difficulties or other transitions that have affected your connection.
